U.K. Band, the ARCTIC MONKEYS, warm the mainstage up with tracks from their first two albums including, "I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor" and "Brianstorm", as well as new songs from their 2009 release, "Humbug".

SOUND RELIEF, The Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, AUSTRALIA

The SOUND RELIEF concert was a multi-venue rock music concert held on 14 March 2009, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (above) and simultaneously at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The concerts were put together to help raise money for the families affected by the Victorian Bushfires and the heavy floods that affected parts of Queensland.
British mega-band COLDPLAY, kicked off the concert in Sydney and were followed on stage by artists including WOLFMOTHER,
The HOODOO GURUS, LITTLE BIRDY, ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI, YOU AM I, JOSH PYKE, TAYLOR SWIFT, ESKIMO JOE, JET, THE PRESETS, ICEHOUSE and BARRY GIBB of The BEE GEES with OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN.

This was the Mainstage for SOUND RELIEF at the
Sydney Cricket Ground.

Opening on the mainstage were COLDPLAY, fronted my Chris Martin (left).
The picture to the right was taken whilst they played their worldwide hit, "Yellow", giant balloons and all.

WOLFMOTHER and JET, who both helped promote the SOUND RELIEF concert, were also the only two bands to play
both the Sydney & Melbourne venues on the same day.

American Country and Pop, Singer-Songwriter, Taylor Swift, was a surprise addition to the
SOUND RELIEF line-up.

Barry Gibb and Olivia Newton John close out the SOUND RELIEF festival. They perform a cover of the Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers classic
(though written by THE BEE GEES),
"Islands In The Stream". Gibb ends the set with
THE BEE GEES hit, "Spicks and Specks".

The Australian version of the V FESTIVAL was established in 2007 and is a spin-off of the British V Festival. The festival has seen artists such as The Pixies, Beck, The Pet Shop Boys, Groove Armada, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Gnarls Barkley, The New York Dolls, The Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran, Queens Of The Stone Age, Air, Modest Mouse, Hot Hot Heat, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Madness, Duffy, Elbow, Human League and Vanilla Ice all take the stage in recent years.

San Diego band, LOUIS XIV, are one of the first bands to hit the mainstage at the 2009 Gold Coast V FESTIVAL

Sydney Indie-Rock Band, HOWLING BELLS, play tracks from their self-titled debut album.

Welsh singer-songwriter, DUFFY, entertains the 20,000 plus crowd with songs such as "Release Me" and "Mercy".

Manchester alternative rock band, ELBOW, are fronted by singer Guy Garvey.

Iconic 80's Pop/Ska band, MADNESS, treat the crowd to their amazing back catalogue, including worldwide hits,
"Our House", "House Of Fun" and "It Must be Love".

Hailing from Melbourne, THE TEMPER TRAP play the Virgin Mobile Stage.

Las Vegas rock band, THE KILLERS, play a greatest hits-like set, through heavy rains that shower the excited crowd.

I was fortunate enough to meet Juanita Stein, lead singer of the
HOWLING BELLS and guitarist for THE KILLERS, Dave Keuning, at the
V FESTIVAL after party at the Hard Rock Cafe.
