The Southside Festival takes place over the exact same three days (in the month of June) as the Hurricane Festival. This festival is held in the very south of Germany in a town called Tuttlingen. |
Festival Name: Love Parade Year Established: 1989-2003, 2006-08, 2010 Venue: Berlin (1989-2003), Ruhr (2006-08, 2010), Average Attendance: Varies from 80,000 to 1.5 Million people Genre Of Music: Electronic Dance Spin-Off Versions: The Love Parade had similar versions of the events held in various cities around the world, albeit much smaller than the German original. These cities have included: Sydney (Australia), Vienna (Austria), Mexico City, Oslo (Norway), Rio de Janiero (Brazil), Leeds (England), Tel Aviv (Israel) and many more. Other: Due to a crowd crush that claimed the lives of 21 people at the 2010 event, the organisers of the Love Parade have cancelled the festival indefinitely in Germany, and any other versions of the event around the world also. |

Festival Year Established: 199 - present Venue: Tuttlingen Average Attendance: 40,000 people Genre Of Music: Alternative Rock Official Website: http://southside.de/ (German) Interesting Fact: On the Thursday night leading up to the start of the Southside Festival, a devastating storm demolished the Tent Stage and large heavy poles were hurled through the air. The two main stages also suffered some damage but luckily they were able to be repaired so the festival could go ahead. However, all acts that were due to appear on the Tent stage had to be cancelled. |
